The chart in this infographic shows the long-term trend in homicides committed by juveniles both with and without a firearm. The FBI defines a juvenile as an individual under the age of 18.

It is not known why there was such a huge spike in the mid-1990’s, and a smaller yet still noticeable rise 10 years later. The long-term downward trend is seen as a hopeful and positive development.
